Proserpine Public Kindergarten Open Day

The Proserpine Public Kindergarten Open Day was held on the 14th June, and was a great success!  Many local families – past, present and future users of the kindy – came along to view the wonderful new facilities and to participate in the fun and games on offer.  The open day included market stalls, face painting, a games tent and lots of cake!

Kindy parent Arthur Gabey presented a welcome as a representative of the lands traditional owners as Jason Costigan MP officially opened the building.  In his opening speech, Mr Costigan said “I would like to acknowledge everyone’s contribution.  We (the State Government) can’t do it alone – to every parent who has been involved with sausage sizzles and raising money in the past, we thank you.  Every dollar counts.”

The kindy would also like to extend our thanks to those local businesses who were kind enough to donate products for our open day and to assist with the fundraising activities.

Kindy Fun Day & Building Opening

(Media Statement – 19th May 2014)

After over 15 years of active and dedicated fundraising, Proserpine Public Kindergarten are delighted to announce the opening of their brand new kindergarten building.

On Saturday the 14th June, the kindergarten will be hosting a fun day to celebrate the official opening of the new building. Through fundraising efforts, a huge portion of the local community have contributed towards realising this major goal, and the kindy invite all to come along and view the fantastic results at 2 Dobbins Lane, Proserpine, between 9.00am and 1.00pm.  Jason Costigan MP will be officially opening the building at 9.30am.

On the day, there will be face painting, sausage sizzle, stalls and lots of games.  This is a fantastic opportunity for past kindy families to view the results of their efforts, and for future families to come along and have a look at the new facilities.

2014 Kindergarten Committee President, Jacqui Watson, said “On behalf of the Proserpine Public Kindergarten, I would like to thank the local community for their effort and involvement in helping us achieve our goal of a new building.  Everyone has worked so hard, and the end result is wonderful.”

Fundraising Goals for 2014

The 2014 committee has met and discussed our fundraising objectives for 2014.  We aim to raise $15,000 through our fundraising efforts, which will go towards the following areas.  Grants are also being sought to contribute.

  • Solar panels and a water tank to help with our kindy’s sustainability
  • A sensory garden and play area
  • An extension to the balcony with drop down blinds to allow for more flexibility and outside time in wet weather
  • A cover over the parents waiting area at the front of the building
